Blog reflection 2 - Nov. 3, 2025
These past few classes have been really helpful with giving me ideas for my story project. I have liked making different sheets and learning the codes to make things easier to do. I had not known that these formulas can fill out an entire sheet, taking away a lot of work of filling out every section at a time. Today's class has given me instructions on how to make my map of the LGBTQ+ bars in San Diego. I am excited to make my own map, using the techniques taught in class.
I am hoping to get my map done soon since it is due on Wednesday. I am starting to look over the feedback for my story and am now realizing the AP Style errors I had made. I will go back and confirm with my sources if they want their sexuality stated in my story or if they have another way for it to be referenced, if at all. I have also tried to reach out to Paul Detweiler, and am hoping he responds for a possible interview. After I get my infographic done, editing my story will be my top priority. I really want to get a better grade, and I am hoping after I revise and fix what I did wrong, that this will happen.

Blog Reflection 1 - Oct. 6, 2025
I am excited to start working on the upcoming story project. I have been busy, so I haven't fully started, but I have reached out to sources and planned a night where I will walk around the LGBTQ+ bars near Hillcrest. I am hoping to get some friends to come with me for support so that I'm not alone. The bar owners I reached out to have still not responded, so I will be trying another method of contacting them. I have started brainstorming questions I could ask interviewees, but I still need to write them down for when I interview people.
I'm also going over the feedback I received from the story pitch, so I will be working on incorporating those comments into my list of things to do this week. My goal is to have everything planned out so that I can have a schedule and timeline to follow to get this project done. I will be doing this on a spreadsheet soon. I'm also hoping that when I search for more examples related to my topic on social media that it will help me finalize my angle for my story. Overall, I am ready to apply what we have been learning in class to this project, with empathetic interviewing skills and digital media components that have been discussed.
